Garraf Beach

The small and sleepy town of Garraf is for sure one of the secret tips around Barcelona. You can reach it by train, a 30-minute journey. It is the next station right after Platja de Castelldefels – and therefore out of zone 1, which means yuo can’t you use your metro card for that trip. The price for a roundtrip is approx. 6€. From the Garraf train station a few stairs lead you down to the beach.

The beach of Garraf is located inside a bay and the town sits above on rocks. The water is usually quite clean and above all warm. At the main beach you can find some old beach huts which are available for rent. In the Summertime the place is crowded of course, but a little bit further towards the end of the beach you will always find a free spot.

The town opposite the beach is picturesque and even has a small modern marina.

Arrive:
Train in direction “Vilanova i la Geltrú” from the city train stations Estación França, Passeig de Grácia and Estación de Sants (Renfe Rodalies R2 Sud).

Tips:

  • Buy the round trip ticket in Barcelona beforehand (‘Ida y vuelta’), since the train station in Garraf does not have vending machines nor staff.
  • The train back to Barcelona leaves from the middle track (return trip). Do not cross the railway!
  • Because you can not validate your ticket in Garraf, you will need to find a staff member to let you leave the station gates once you’re back in Barcelona.
