From the city 13km away, the airport of Barcelona (Aeropuerto de Barcelona – El Prat) has two terminal buildings, of which terminal 1 (T1) was just opened in 2009. Both terminals are quite far away from each other, which makes it neccesary to be informed from where your flight will be going. Most bigger airlines lift off from the new T1 (z.B. Lufthansa, Iberia, Air France…). Most smaller airlines are using T2 (z.B. Ryanair, Easyjet, Air Berlin…). A bus shuttle is operating between the terminals – but this always costs you time.
Arriving terminal 1:
- Bus connection from Plaça Espanya: Bus 46, öffentlicher Nahverkehr (cheap, ca. 45 minutes)
- Bus connection from Plaça Catalunya/Espanya: Aerobus T1, private transport (more than 5€ per ride, direct in ca. 20 minutes)
Arriving terminal 2:
- Bus connection from Plaça Espanya: Bus 46, public transport (cheap, ca. 45 minutes)
- Bus connection from Plaça Catalunya/Espanya: Aerobus T2, private transport (more than 5€ per ride, direct in ca. 20 minutes)
- Train from Passeig de Gracia / Estación Sants: Rodalies R2 (cheap, ca. 20 minutes, only T2)
For those who need to go fast and are not scared of costs: a cab from the center to the airport will cost you depending on daytime 20-30€.
